So, after joining a new clan last week, I decided to start making some gameplay vids when I'm playing with them. i.e. Decent matches of SnD with good communication etc.
So I though I'd start with my good old Fraps. On my system, I get a constant 90fps with everything on Max or high, 4xAA at a res of 1680x1050, but with DoF and something else (the thing next to it) turned off. Now, when I start recording with Fraps, that number always drops to a number between 20 and 25, usually 22, and stays almost constant. It only drops below if I start running through a load of smoke or something. Even reducing settings to lowest didn't improve fps. I did a quality test and it was pretty good even after being rendered with Sony Vegas, but playing at that low FPS was near impossible, especially if I'm playing SnD where reaction times are often crucial. So now I come onto WeGame. Once again, I have the same problem. To get a playable fps, I have to put settings way down, and record in poor quality. Anybody got any suggestions, apart from buying a new computer/gpu? ![]() EDIT: Thread title FAIL. It was "MW2 Fails Again." I must have changed it by accident. Mod change pl0x?EDIT2: Thank you kindly

Im sorry to ruin your dreams, but "Humans see at a rate of 24 frames per second." So you should play near-exact the same.

I know that.
I even said, after I rendered it with Vegas, the quality was very good, but I couldn't play like that because of that amount of stutter. Add lag to that, and it gets even worse.

Yes but it's extremely well known that humans can't judge values very well at all, but they can judge the change in value extraordinarily well.
Also, we don't "see" in frames per second, apparantly that's not how our eyes work at all. We do however see a video instead of a series of still images at about 24 FPS (hence TV, film etc is 25 FPS) Furthermore, the more something is percived to change in a set amount of time, the higher the "FPS" we need in order for it to look like a video. Imagine watching a video of a plant grow in 5 FPS. It will look absolutely fine, but watch a video of a car being driven at 5 FPS and it looks ridiculous. Because gaming is all action and lots of extremely quick bits of motion (explosions, tracers etc) you need a much higher FPS. Leaving all the science and allegations about what our eyes can and can't do, every single gamer will tell you that they notice a difference between 25 and 60 FPS. On Topic "Good" video recording is about finding the software that suits your hardware & software combo. For example FRAPs has a big FPS drop for vis but not for me, likewise I find xfire's recording capability perfect but on his system it's still not good enough to get decent vids. Just sticking something out there... the number of cores. I jump to cores because a GTS250 is more than adequete, and a 3.1GHz modern dual core is also fine for 2-core-max games... but what about recording? does that take a whole core to itself? Perhaps people who suffer big FPS drops in FRAPs are those using dual cores? Having said that, FRAPs has always been good to me, even on the dual core I used to have. Message? Try different software. Xfire?

Tests show that Xfire is just as bad. Unplayable even when recording at half-size and all in-game settings at lowest possible.

I record with wegame, without wegame i can play on max everything. With it i play with 800x600 and medium on everything else, 16:9, and it still lags abit. I record at 30 fps web recording.
If you use nvidia, right click at desktop, go to nvidia control panel, and choose 3d settings performance. Also does anybody know ideal virtual memory?
