Default lulz my PSU broke

So the fan stopped on my Corsair 550W. Thing is, it appears to have been like that for like 2 months and I haven't noticed anything wrong with my PC.

Anyways, got my RMA no. just gotta go drop it off.

I'm sure someone enthusiastic about corsairs can turn a failed-after-2-years-fan into good points:

1) It worked perfectly for over 60 days despite inevitably getting rather warm... without a fan... not bad.
2) The fan is so quiet anyway you didn't even notice it stop?
3) Yes corsair 7 warranty = new PSU for free.

So, what did go wrong then? Just the fan? Or did the thing presumably overheat and fail due to the lack of a fan?

I opened the case to clean some dust and noticed that it wasn't spinning, my PC is still working perfectly fine. I only RMAed it because I was concerned about any future damage not because i'm seeing any effects now.

I know, right! I saw it not moving and I was like "WTF?!" The whole PSU unit is still cool to touch so i'm hoping there's no lasting damage. Hopefully i'll only be running this PSU for another few days before I can get back to the store.

Corsairs are pretty incredible...

The VX450 can pull circa 600w for a few hours without doing any permanent damage (cheap PSUs blow up when you get to 50% of their power rating, letalone 150%) The VX550 must be capable of what, 700w + for short periods of time? That's like twice what a cheapy "700w" rated unit can pull.

The new TX1200 gets 94% efficiency (80% is amazing) at 1200w... (nothing does that. If anything says "gold rated 80% efficiency" it means 80% efficiency whilst being bathed in dry ice and powering a system that only uses 60% of the PSUs potential)

Also, a 750w Thermaltake can start your car, so I've no doubt a mid-high range corsair can. Infact it must do, car batteries are circa 50A aren't they, and the TX650 produces 52A, if not a TX750 is like 70 something A. Anyway, I'm babbling.
