1. If you used the search function to find other threads about this EXACT same thing, you would find a picture that explains it, and applies for most headsets.
2. Steelseries Siberia are good if you have the money. Slightly cheaper are the Turtle Beach PX21s, which cost a little less. And then there are Turtle Beach X11s which are even cheaper, but I'm sure people will still recommend them.

1. Usually, the jacks go into the Xbox 360 controller. However as Wunda said, some heads are different. No matter what headset you choose, there will always be a way to set it up via instruction manual.
2. Personally, I recommend the Turtle Beach PX21's, simply for their diversity. You can use it for not only the Xbox 360, but for the Playstation 3, and your personal computer as well. It's about $80, and worth every penny. Of course there are more expensive headsets out there, and better ones, but if you require a reasonably cheap headset with good quality, the PX21's should suit your needs. Check out my personal review of the product on the thread below: Turtle Beach PX21 Review |

My suggestion: use those and buy a cheap mobile phone microphone to plug into the controller. Plug the headphones into the TV, xbox voice preferences to play through speakers (which will be headphones since you've plugged them into the TV) Adjust the ingame volume sfx such as gunfire and voice and your televisions volume to you get a good mix of clear voice but still able to hear the things you need. |
