Getting this error message periodically every 15 seconds since starting the computer on. Windows finds a solution, and then Windows Explorer restarts.

Event viewer shows the faulting module name as "ntdll.dll"

A quick google shows no quick fixes for this problem.

Will post screens if you want to.

Using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit (legal of course).

Help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Virus scan came up with nothing, so it rules that out.

Try doing a Windows repair from your Windows install CD (or even a low level format aka reinstall windows without formating so you keep your files), that may resolve the issue. If explorer.exe is crashing, you may have a serious issue with your system, since this is the "core GUI" of Windows.

Thanks, but it is now fixed.

Can't remember now exactly what I did, unfortunately. I'm pretty sure that a different error in the event viewer pointed to a random file somewhere in my Windows folder, which I promptly deleted. A quick re-boot has solved the problem for good.

I hope that deleting an unrecognised file that's popped up somewhere in the event viewer isn't how you solve all of your problems.

Of course not. Who do you think I am.

I believe the file was from a program that is no longer installed on my computer. I did quickly google the name, but very little came up.

AFAIK, it has caused absolutely no problems so far.
