Default Info on Headphones or no cookie.

Well, here's the deal for shit.
My aunt is the Vice President of Urban Affair at Sony, So that's why i have a PS3, im broke, and were in a tight spot at the moment, so I can't afford a pair of my own and have no way to buy any. So she sent me the new DR-Ga500's that just came out today, i've been told repeatedely by people on this forum and others that they will work for the PS3, so that's good. i was just wondering if these are any good, and if you could supply me with any extra information. Their coming in the mail so i'll have a mic by sunday or monday, for any of yall that play with me on the PS3 *cough* ozball *cough*

Read online.
Get them in the mail and try them yourself, i mean if you're already getting them you'll see how they do, it's not like you're trying to decide.

I read one spec and can already tell you that it's going to be nothing special. If you're after a set of maybe-decent stereo headphones, great. You might have it. I can't tell you because audio quality from a set of headphones depends on a lot more than specs that are show/specs that I can personally make sense of. If you're expecting a proper surround sound headset that you can use for anything other than gaming, you're not getting that here. This set is another example of a pair single-driver cups being marketed as supporting surround sound because ALL stereo headphones in the history of man, by nature, are capable of supporting software-generated directional audio.

In other words, it'll be fine for gaming. That said, what isn't? As long as your drivers are of a reasonable size (I'm going to be generous and say anything above 2.5cm if footsteps and gunfire are that you're listening for), it'll be fine for gaming. I can't tell anything about its potential performance in anything else aside from the fact that you won't be able to use them for applications that require true surround sound.

EDIT: Do me a favour and don't sing their praises once you get them. You don't know enough about audio to do so and too many idiots are buying $100+ headphones because similarly idiotic people are saying that they're good without having tried a set of widely-available $50 headphones of similar quality. See Turtle Beach and other "gaming" headset providers..

Giving me an idea of what to expect and if they'd be good for gaming. so yeah.

BREAKING NEWS
notreally

Anyway, Yah, got my headset after waitin a couple days, FedEx didn't fail me for once, i got um...Now I has a problem. I are techinical idiot So i plugged up the headset, went to accesories on the PS3, changed the input and output to the headset for the Mic, yada yada yada, it came with a bunch of cords, etc etc, and a central box to put all the cords in that connects to the headset. So here's how it goes, there's 2 cords on the headset that connect to the box, an ac adaptor that connects to the box that needs to be plugged in...then here's my problem. There's a BUNCH of other cords, like 7ch, and 2.1ch etc etc cords, But none of those fit into my tv, so i can't transmit any game audio to my headsets, i went to Sound, and there were lots..and lots of options for Digital, wasn't there. then there was the option below for the red and white cord that came with the PS3. So yeah, any ideas on how to get game sound to my headset?

...wait's for people to ask me to re-explain the question

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to plug in surround sound head phones into the PS3 directly? You might want to find your PS3 manual to see how to hook up your head phones if you can't figure it out.

You have to hook your headphones up to your tv's audio output. This is the only way I know how to do it. You may need to get an audio splitter for your headset Amazon.com: "2 x RCA Male / 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable, 6 inch": Electronics: Reviews, Prices & more

don't think that would be the issue, I doubt that they would sell them without all the components necessary for all platforms since they're marketing (I think) to all platforms.

Doesn't the PS3 support USB2.0? I used to use a USB condenser mic that I used for studio work with my friend's PS3.

Is there a setting that sets audio output, as opposed to headset options?

There's a setting to output and input mic volume, and then there's the sound volume, There's one for HDMI, a Digital sound one, and one for the two red and white plugs that come with the PS3, but since i cant find any cords that fit into my tv, it won't work,

UPDATE, I fixed it! <3 after being rerouted and an hour of tech support, then going to radio shack (and making a new friend to add to my psn), I got all audio into my headphones, thank you all who helped! Can someone close this?

Getting an RCA red and white female adaptor to female miniplug, along with some other adaptors, to plug the audio cord directly into the tv.

LOL SO, TO CONCLUDE:

You got it to work by plugging it in.

Nice. Admittedly you needed an adapter but hey.
