Taking a new angle with Call of Duty videos.
Anybody know a decent piece of compression software that I can use to reduce the size of .avi files with minimal quality loss? Suggestions/help appreciated.

How about HandBrake?
It's based on x264/h.264, an encoder/codec known for its high compression ratio and quality. |

If you're planning on uploading to Youtube then I recommend against AVI. I've found that Youtube will sometimes distort and/or unsync audio in the conversion process.
MP4 is optimal. This is the format that Youtube uses. |

Re-read the OP. It is for the compression OF .avi files.
Handbrake does actually compress to .mp4/.m4v, anyway.
