Default PS3 fckt up
Hey gang,

Had my ps3 for over 4 years now, last night it suddenly went to standby out of the blue.tried to turn it back on but it starts up then just fcks off back to a flashing red standby light which you then have to turn off again.i am not sure if it is showing me a little yellow light before t his happens as i was drunk at the time. IS this the yellow light of death? Can it be resolved? or am i now fcked....

Most likely:-

Your Ps3 has overheated and gone into safe mode.
The tricky thing is it does exactly the same thing wether this is a srs fck up or a minor one. You press the light it comes on makes 3 beeps and goes off, correct?

If so....Turn everything off and leave for twenty four hours (wont need this long but just to be sure). If after you have cleaned all the fluff from the vents and left it unplugged for that amount of time and it does the same thing....it's fucked.
This is what happened to my fullfat PS3. It's difficult to tell from the lights if it is permenant as the PS3 doesn't actually have a yellow light (despite what people say), it's just an illusion of colour. I managed to get my Fullfat fixed so all is not lost, but it didnt last (other friends fixes have lasted).

My new PS3 slim has also done this but after cleaning and unplugging it was fine.

Ok i have got the ps unplugged.Have hoovered all the crap out and yeh there was quite a bit.So i will leave it till tommorow after work and try again....

Thanks for the help, obviously some of you will know immediately if its worked.If not... will take me a while to get another one.
