Get them before they're gone. Anybody in the UK looking at building a PC this Christmas should get one of these now. 5770 for £95, 5850 for £150.

Even for the good old "lucky dip" cards, those are fantastic prices. The best thing is that normally UK companies (NT included) just cut prices to stay within £5 or so of the competition, whereas these price cuts are actually meaningful. £100 saving on most launch prices there for the 5000 series...

SRSLY, £300 for two 5850s in Crossfire. Performance/value ratio must be brilliant.

With these prices, I am also slightly considering splashing out on a few upgrades...

Whilst late for the bus the other day I was considering the shelf life of a PS3 (GT5 thoughts) and when it'd be replaced by the PS4. I'd vaguely heard 2011 somewhere. If that's the case, loads of people already own PS4 & Xbox 720 spec systems. Think about it, the PS3 was a 7800GTX about 2 years after everyone had 7800GTXs in their PC. Likewise the xbox 720 is probably based on a HD4890 or 5850 or something that is available to us PC users right now.

Two (unoptimised) xbox 720s for £300 (near enough the likely cost of a single xbox 720) hmm...


Unfortunately 2x 5850 is just wasted power. Really, what can you do with it? Games like Crysis simply lag, whatever you play them with because they're not brilliantly optimised, whilst all the other games (all COD games included) just do not do modern gaming GFX cards justice.

Someone who is building a racing car which if it needs to be driven WILL, presumably, at some point require a seat to sit in whilst you drive???? (srs)


I don't really find bragging rights about computer performance do anything, particularly people who have just bought something. High overclocks and great value for money I can appreciate, but still doesn't really "do it."
